Centro Sperimentale del Latte (CSL) is a company founded in 1948 by Dr. Leo Vesely in order to study and increase the value of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and other food grade microorganisms. CSL was the first Italian company to study and demonstrate the importance of LAB cultures for the human organism. In 2013 CSL has been bought by the same property of Caglificio Clerici and Sacco, through this operation the new born Group aims to consolidate, valorize and export joint competences and skills and to create a new center of excellence in Lifescience, where innovative technologies will merge with the experience of more than 100 years history of studying and working with enzymes and cultures. Centro Sperimentale del latte, with Caglificio Clerici, Sacco and Kemikalia is a company of Sacco System, the biotech network of international excellence applied to the food, nutraceutical and pharamaceutical industries. The mission of Sacco System is contained in the pay-off "Supporting food culture and life": improving the lives of consumers and good nutrition requires the manufacture of natural, functional and helathier finished products, the result of the sharing of resources and know-how of the four companies. Today CSL studies, develops, produces and sells probiotics, starter cultures, moulds and yeasts for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, dairy, food and agri-zootechnical sectors. To the industrial work, CSL combines basic and applied research, also demonstrated by the technical-scientific activity of CSL with more than 300 publications between experimental works and reviews.
