Dr. Arthur Ouwehand is Technical Fellow at Global Health & Nutrition Sciences, DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences, Kantvik, Finland. Dr. Ouwehand received his B.Sc. in biology and chemistry in Utrecht (the Netherlands) 1987, his M.Sc. degree (with honours, 1992) in cell biology from Wageningen University (the Netherlands) and his Ph.D. degree (1996) in microbiology from University of Gothenburg (Sweden). Since 1999 he has functioned as Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku (Finland). Since 2004 he has been working for Danisco; now DuPont Nutrition and Biosciences. Dr. Ouwehand is the author of more than 250 journal articles and book chapters on probiotics and prebiotics; he is the editor of four books on lactic acid bacteria and the intestinal microbiota.
Dr Madhavan Nair, Scientist, Retd. National Institute of Nutrition, Vice President, Nutrition Society of India (India)
Dr Nair is currently the Vice-President of Nutrition Society of India and a Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences and Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Dr Nair was formerly the Head of Micronutrient Research at the National Institute of Nutrition, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and has worked for more than 35 years as a nutrition scientist. He has made significant contributions in understanding iron-induced free radical damage at the site of absorption, bioavailability and in developing food based strategies to control micronutrient deficiencies. He coordinated the Expert Group of the ICMR to revise the Nutrient Requirements and RDA for Indians and in developing the National standards for staple food fortification. He has published over 150 peer reviewed papers and book chapters and guided many students for PhD. He is a member of a large number of National and International expert committees on Public Health Nutrition.
Dr Nabil Bosco, Healthy ageing team leader, Nestle Research (Singapore)
Dr. Nabil Bosco received his PhD in Immunology from the University of Grenobl (France) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in 2008 at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel (Switzerland). He then joined Nestle Research Lausanne (Switzerland) where he lead preclinical research activities dedicated to gastro-intestinal diseases. Here he assessed immuno-modulatory, anti-inflammatory and mucosal healing properties of probiotics and developed a deep expertise in host-microbe interactions in health and diseases. He belonged and co-chaired scientific expert task forces at Top Institutes in Food and Nutrition (Netherlands) and the International Life Sciences Institute Europe (Belgium).
Since 2016, Nabil is a team leader in an open innovation hub of Nestle research based in Singapore and appointed visiting scientist at Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN). His team and collaborators work on healthy ageing and develop concepts, products or services for seniors based on observational and interventional clinical trials.
Chyn Boon Wong, Research Associate, Morinaga Nutritional Foods (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd. (Singapore)
Dr. Chyn Boon Wong joined Morinaga Milk Industry in 2016 and has worked in probiotics research and development. Her main research activities are focused on scientific substantiation of health benefits of bifidobacteria as probiotics, including the design and execution of projects related to the basic and functional aspects of bifidobacteria. She received B. Sc. degree with honours in Microbiology in 2011 from the University of Putra Malaysia, and PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2016, specialising in the development of lactic acid bacteria and their bioactive molecules as neutraceuticals. She has been the recipient of USM Fellowship in Universiti Sains Malaysia and the Regional Bio-Asia Program in Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), Angers-Nantes, France.
